Danby Castle is a 14th century castle located in the picturesque village of Danby, North Yorkshire. Constructed by the Latimer family, who were among the most powerful nobles of medieval England, the castle was built to replace an earlier castle at Castleton that was destroyed by fire. It is said that some of the stone from the earlier castle was used in the construction of Danby Castle.

A quadrangular castle with a central courtyard and towers at each corner, Danby Castle was passed down through the Latimer and Neville families until the 16th century when John Neville, who later married Catherine Parr, made the castle his marital home. Catherine Parr later became the 6th wife of Henry VIII. The Estate was then passed to the Danvers family and later to the Dawnay family, who still own it today.

Although partly in ruins, Danby Castle is considered one of the earliest examples of a fortified but principally domestic castle. Three of the four towers still exist in some form, and the south wing remains intact. The south-east tower of the old mansion still stands, and a farmhouse and farm buildings were added. Repairs were made in the 19th century, and the South Range was restored around 1960.
