Dalton old pump house | Kate and ross
As I arrive at Kate's parent's house, I'm met by her family who are busily preparing for the day. As a wedding photographer, my job is to document the entire event and I'm here to capture all of the bridal preparation. I'm greeted by just Kate, but before long the rest of the wedding party have arrived. We head upstairs to make a start on getting ready. The sheer energy and joy present in the room is inspiring; you can tell that this will be an incredible occasion for everyone involved. I take out my camera gear and start documenting moments as they unfold around me – it's officially time to begin capturing this beautiful story!
As Kate is finishing getting ready I make the short journey to the wedding venue. The Dalton old Pump house is a relatively new wedding venue located just off the A19 near Dalton. From the outside, it has kept the traditional feel of a working pump house. There is no grand entrance or long lawns to greet you, just the sheer industrial size of the tower that once fed water to the local towns and villages.
Climb up the concrete steps and walk through the door and you are transported into an emerald industrial palace that reminds me of the emerald city from The Wizard of OZ. Huge pillars rise up into the tower that is crisscrossed by iron beams and wooden floors high above you. All of this industrial strength is softened by glass chandeliers with warm light, candles flicker in the corner and flowers break the harsh edges.
The place is a thing of beauty and something I've never photographed before.
Below are some of my favourite photos from the day. If you are planning a wedding at Dalton Pump House then please do get in touch.
